Our Charities of the Year 2025!

As 2025 marks the 20^th anniversary of Backhouse Solicitors, we have decided to support four charities this year!

The team have chosen to support the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, Farleigh Hospice, Little Havens and Chelmsford Foodbank for the next 12 months, and are looking forward to taking part in various fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for such great causes!

The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity – With support centres around Essex, they provide a safe space where cancer patients can be themselves and do not have to put on a brave face. A place where they can have relaxing and calming treatments, knowing that they are not alone. Founded in 1999, the charity is the legacy of BBC broadcaster Helen Rollason, whose vision was: “Good quality of life while coping with cancer is the most important gift a sick person can receive. It should be available to everyone”.

Farleigh Hospice – provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across mid-Essex. They provide a range of services tailored to meet an individual’s physical, emotional and psychological needs. They rely on the support and generosity of the community to help fund this amazing cause.

Little Havens – Little Havens provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people from Essex living with complex or incurable conditions. They offer care and support for each child or young person, and their whole family, in their homes and at the hospice in Rayleigh, Essex. Set in beautiful meadowland, surrounded by landscaped gardens, sensory areas, wheelchair-accessible swings and other adaptable play equipment, the Hospice offers invaluable surroundings for children.

Chelmsford Foodbank – Chelmsford Foodbank is a project of the The River Church, Chelmsford, run by volunteers and individuals from across the region. There are several Food Distribution Centres open in different parts of Chelmsford, helping local people and families in crisis.

Throughout the year, the Backhouse team will be supporting Farleigh through a wide range of fundraising events such as movie nights, quizzes, sponsored walks, Make a Will month and more!

At Backhouse Solicitors, we offer free 30-minute consultations to our new clients, giving them the option to make a small donation to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity in return for our time. We will also be supporting the charity with the funds raised by staff on our monthly dress down Fridays.

The proceeds from the staff tuck shop will be given to Little Havens this year, and the team will support Chelmsford foodbank with food collections in Spring and Winter.
