I began my legal career as an office junior in the early 1990s for a national Personal Injury law firm based in Central London. My career progression saw me become the firm’s advocate on all interlocutory applications and I regularly attended at the High Court and local County Courts before Masters and District Judges. As my journey continued, I decided to embark on a career as a fee earner.
During my 30 years of experience in the legal sector, I have specialised in Personal Injury and have worked for both Claimants and Defendants. As a Defendant litigator, I acted for major UK insurers as a counter-fraud specialist as well as assisting on a £1m+ international product liability claim that saw me travel to Spain.
Throughout my profession, I have led teams of various sizes and developed a passion for operations, processes and procedures and for the past 9 years, I have been employed as a Practice Manager at a very successful niche law firm in Norfolk.
When the position of operations manager came up at Backhouse Solicitors, I knew this would be perfect for me and a great opportunity to be part of a family-owned firm that was flying high! With my experience in the industry, I am excited to bring my expertise, knowledge and ideas to the team and am looking forward to this new chapter not to mention the quicker commute to Chelmsford!
Outside of work
Outside of work my time is mainly taken up by unsuccessfully requesting my eldest teenage son to tidy his bedroom and spending many a disappointing Saturday afternoon with my youngest son watching our beloved West Ham!
