Ben Backhouse today attended a lunch with Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, at Anglia Ruskin University organised by Essex Chambers of Commerce. Mr Pickles spoke to a gathering of local business leaders about the Government’s proposed changes to planning legislation in the UK.
Commenting on the occasion, Ben said:
“It was a pleasure to be invited to hear Eric Pickles speak at length on a subject which is obviously close to his heart. The subject is a controversial one with strong arguments on both sides, and there were many questions from the attendees. There’s no doubt there is a strong will in Government to change to the current planning rules, but I predict this one will run and run.”
