Has your marriage broken down and you’re not sure what to do? Are you experiencing problems in maintaining a relationship with your children? Are you a victim of domestic abuse or have you been accused of domestic abuse?
The family law environment is evolving with family relationships being complex, emotive and central to our day-to-day life. The legal framework is also constantly evolving with civil partnerships and same-sex marriages. Pre-nuptial agreements are becoming more common as greater numbers of people choose to live together without getting married. The law surrounding Domestic Abuse is currently being discussed in Parliament and is likely to be changed shortly.
No-Fault Divorce
The Divorce, dissolution and Separation Act brings in various changes surrounding the alteration in UK law that came into effect on 6th April 2022 with the No-Fault Divorce. Divorce can be an upsetting and stressful process. The new law is expected to help reduce animosity amongst separating couples during this difficult time. Providing you have been married for over one year, proceedings can now commence at any time and the application needs only to state that the marriage has irretrievably broken down.
