From 1 February 2012, the compensation which can be awarded by a Tribunal for a successful unfair dismissal claim will increase to £72,300 (previously £68,400). The basic award for certain unfair dismissal claims, such as dismissal related to health and safety or trade union membership, will also increase to £5,300 (previously £5,000).
The maximum compensation for a week’s pay used to calculate statutory redundancy pay will rise from £400 to £430.
If an employee’s dismissal date takes effect on or after 1 February 2012 the new compensatory limits will apply.
