Disputes over dress codes are again attracting attention in the press, so here’s a question for you:
Can you spot the difference?
- your boss demands that you do not wear your hair in a ponytail
- your boss demands that you don’t wear a crucifix round your neck
- your boss demands that you shave your beard
- your boss demands that you work naked (!)
If you think that these scenarios are worlds apart, you’d be mistaken! No CEO in their right mind would ask their employees to work in the nude, but all of these are dress code questions.
So how should we decide whether a dress code is reasonable? Fortunately at Backhouse Solicitors we are experts in employment law and wrote a Blog post on this very topic earlier in the year.
If you are an employer who isn’t sure whether your dress code is on the right side of the rules, or an employee who thinks that their boss is making unreasonable demands, then why not contact us and book a free 30 minute consultation to find out more.
